Downtown Ice is not only located in a spectacular setting -- the Circle of Palms between the Fairmont Hotel and San Jose Museum of Art. The South Bay’s largest seasonal outdoor skating rink, produced by the San Jose Downtown Association, has the coolest partners - Kristi Yamaguchi's Always Dream Foundation and Hawaiian Airlines.
Our goal is to take care of all customers and make this ice rink the best skating experience anywhere.
If you've never been to the ice rink, here's what to expect, a step-by-step guide to ensure a cool Downtown Ice experience.
Downtown Ice is part of San Jose's Downtown for the Holidays traditions
Downtown Ice is located in the core of the South Bay's leading seasonal attractions and family friendly activities, which include the traditional Christmas in the Park and Winter Wonderland. Park once and make a day of it in downtown San Jose: dine, dance, laugh, and witness the spirit around you.
Parking is affordable and easy. Find $5 flat-rate parking after 6 p.m.,
seven nights a week in city-owned lots and garages. After 6 p.m. and all day Saturday, receive validation from a participating business and park the rest of the night for FREE in city-owned garages. Visit sjdowntownparking.com for more information.

There are lots of ways to save on admission to Downtown Ice, but only one is available every day that the rink is open:
- $2 off one admission with valid VTA, Light rail or Bus pass (offer may not be used with any other discounts). Ride to the Paseo de San Antonio Station.
- New this year! $23 combination ticket to Downtown Ice, The Tech Museum and San Jose Museum of Art (SAVE 33%). This “Holiday Hat Trick” pass is available for purchase at all 3 venues during operating hours, and you can redeem your pass at the 3 different venues on different days. Good through January 29, 2012.

- “Drop-In” FREE Skating Lessons - Would you like to learn to skate or sharpen your skating skills? If so, join us at Downtown Ice for free introductory skating lessons compliments of U.S. Figure Skating. U.S. Figure Skating will have instructors on hand from Noon-1 p.m. Jan. 21 and 28 to offer free introductory group skating lessons to all interested skaters. Lessons will be given by instructors according to ability, age and the number of participants. Lessons will range from 15 to 20 minutes and be done in a group format. A signed waiver form will be required prior to participating in the lesson. Enjoy January – National Skate Month – and the national championships at HP Pavilion Jan. 22–29.
- “Skate with Champions” - From 6-7 p.m. nightly between Jan. 23 and Jan. 27, fans will be joined at Downtown Ice by former members of Team USA for “Skate with Champions.” Fans will find clues as to who will be featured daily by following U.S. Figure Skating on Twitter (@USFigureSkating).
- “Schools on Skates”- Downtown Ice will extend its “Schools on Skates” program through the Championships and welcome two area schools to enjoy free ice skating. Dorsa Elementary (Jan. 23) and Rocketship Elementary (Jan.23) students will spend 30 minutes on the ice before attending a competitive session at the U.S. Championships. Tickets and transportation assistance are courtesy of Prudential, the title sponsor of the 2012 Championships.
- Business Lunch Skate - A free lunch skate for employees of downtown businesses is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26. Businesses located in the downtown area are encouraged to participate.

- Look for 2-for-1 discounts in the El Observador and Silicon Valley Community Newspapers. One child skates free with one adult paid admission: (limit two kids and two adults per ad).
- Special discounts also available to arts patrons (look for coupons in the playbills), Children's Discovery Museum members, San Jose Museum of Art Members, San Jose State University students and faculty and Sharks ticket holders.
- U.S. Figure Skating SkateFests - U.S. Figure Skating is excited to present two SkateFests in conjunction with the 2012 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The SkateFests will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21 and Sunday, Jan. 29 from 3-6 p.m. Each SkateFest will be a structured "try-skating" event during which trained instructors offer free lessons in small groups. Special guests and local area skating competitors will make appearances and give participants skating tips. SkateFest participants will acquire basic skating knowledge, information about how to get further involved in skating, U.S. Figure Skating souvenirs and have the opportunity to meet some of U.S. Figure Skating’s elite competitors. Registration for both SkateFests will open at 2:30 p.m. Lessons will be given from 3-3:45pm; 4-4:45pm and 5-5:45pm. A signed waiver form will be required prior to participating in SkateFest. All ages and abilities are welcome.
- Patrons can show their Downtown Ice receipt at the HP Pavilion box office for $5 off admission to any ticketed session at the 2012 U.S. Championships while supplies last. Click here for information on the Championships.
Fund-raiser nights:

Always Dream Foundation
Founded in 1996 as a non-profit charity, Kristi Yamaguchi's Always Dream Foundation was established with one purpose in mind: to support organizations and programs that have a positive influence on children. In January 2010, the Foundation completed its first capital project, the Always Dream Play Park, located in Fremont. - Food or drink are not allowed past the entrance (except water)
- Tables outside the rink are available on a first-come, first-served basis
- Only paid admission (and guardians, if necessary) are allowed past the entrance
- All children 13 and under must be supervised at all times by a parent or guardian 18 or older
- Strollers are only allowed when the rink is not at capacity (per management discretion)
- There are no in and out privileges
- Restrooms are located on the plaza. Please use the facilities on the plaza prior to entering the rink.
- No lockers or secure storage on site. Please do not bring valuables to the rink
