  2003 Downtown Doors Project

Art by four Lincoln High School students adds life and energy to pedestrian routes around Fairmont Plaza.
It's all part of "Downtown Doors," a project of the
San Jose Downtown Foundation that aims to add color, interest and vibrance to the city's sidewalks.

The project also provides students an opportunity to undertake large-scale art for a public setting.
The artists are seniors Lindsay Ward and Kelsey Mitchell
and juniors Sofia Arredondo and Fernando Borrayo, students of teacher Eileen Zamora at Lincoln. The art will be on display for a year until May 2004.

The Foundation plans to expand the project and broaden the competition next year.

Seed money for this year's project, which included an honorarium for the school's art department, was generated by the sale of two shark sculptures in the Sharkbyte Art auction. Forest City Commercial Management provided the doors and window locations for exhibition.
