Holiday Funding
Please help save downtown's cherished holiday events
San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed, along with the San Jose Downtown Association,Christmas in the Park and Winter Wonderland, have enlisted the help of Silicon Valley businesses organizations and individuals to boost financing for the three downtown holiday anchor events of Downtown for the Holidays.
More than a half million people come downtown to visit Christmas in the Park, twirl and glide under the palms at Downtown Ice outdoor skating rink and dare the rides of Winter Wonderland. But the city of San Jose faces a budget shortage and cannot subsidize these events like it has in the past.
Already, San Jose is stepping up. About 75 percent of the necessary $320,000 in funding has already been committed to the events. We need to think winter this summer, and have all the money secured by the end of September.
