South First Fridays gallery crawl and Street MRKT– Free and open to the public this Friday
Come by the SoFA District this Friday evening, where the heart of creativity and art is located. Meet people and appreciate art in an inviting environment. Galleries along South First Street from San Carlos to Reed Street and on Market Street open their doors late with exhibit receptions, readings, performances, live music and more. Plus, Anno Domini hosts Street Mrkt, a diverse showcase of local artist vendors and live local music. On stage this week: Jhameel, Lisa Dewey and The Lotus Life and Sean Hayes. 8 pm-late. Benefit for Downtown Doors program Wednesday
We don’t often send you outside downtown for an event, but the San Jose Downtown Foundation’s Downtown Doors program will be beneficiary of Art & Sole 2. Art & Sole is a charity shoe auction, where young artists use shoes as canvas for their works. The eclectic event raised $1,200 in its inaugural year for Downtown Doors, a program that showcases the works of high school students on double- and triple- utility doors of the Fairmont Hotel, Pavilion, Camera Cinemas, Re Theatre and other businesses downtown. Downtown Farmers' Market – Friday
Visit the market this week to receive composting tips from Compost Santa Clara County. Each week the market brings to you more than 40 growers and artists, appetizing foods, unique gifts and fresh produce and flowers. Not to mention – great lunch spots, people-watching and live music by local artists. Tech Museum of Innovation – New permanent exhibit: “Technology Benefiting Humanity,” a 3,000 square foot interactive exhibition and the only exhibition on the West Coast that links social responsibility with technology.
